Slow Cooker Beef and Chorizo Chili with Chocolate Garnish

Chili is a hearty and satisfying meal for anytime of the year! I like to give my chili some spunk by adding the rich flavor of chorizo and a hint of chocolate for that sweet and savory factor. This taste combination is almost reminiscent of Mexican mole sauce--one of my favorites! I hope your family enjoys this chili as much as mine does!

 12 oz Package of Chorizo, casing removed (if any)
 1 ½ lbs Lean ground beef
 1 tbsp Garlic, minced
 1 cup Yellow onion, minced
 8 oz Can of tomato sauce
 14.50 oz Can of diced tomatoes
 1 Green pepper, diced
 1 Red pepper, diced
 1 Jalapeno, seeded and finely chopped
 1 ½ tsp Chili powder
 1 tsp Cumin
 ½ tsp Paprika (not smoked variety)
 1 tsp Ground cinammon
 ¼ tsp Cayenne pepper
 ½ tsp Salt, or to taste
 ¼ tsp Black pepper, or to taste
 2 cups Water
 1 cup Beef broth (or 1/2 BOU® Beef Bouillon with 1 cup of water)
 18 oz Cans of black beans
 16 oz Can of kidney or pinto beans
 1 Package of Enjoy Life Foods® semi-sweet chocolate mini chips, Sno Caps, or morsels of your choice.
Cooking Instructions

Brown chorizo and beef in a skillet on medium heat. Make sure to break up the chorizo with a cooking utensil while browning, if in large pieces. Drain grease and keep the heat on the pan.


Add the garlic and onion to the meat mixture and saute for 1 minute.


Add the browned meat and all other ingredients, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE BEANS, to your slow cooker.


Cook on the low setting for 6 hours.


Add the beans to the pot once cooking has finished. Stir gently before serving.


Spoon into bowls, and top with a sprinkle of chocolate morsels along with any other desired accompaniments. Chopped green onion, sliced jalapeno, and homemade tortilla strips are some of my favorite options. Enjoy!
