Gluten-free friends, if you’re in the Indianapolis area or are looking for a great excuse for a road trip, come join me at this year’s Gluten-Free Food Allergy Fest (GFFA Fest)!
Last year my son, Noah (who has celiac disease), and I drove from Chicago to Indianapolis to check out the Fest for the first time. Noah loves any opportunity to freely sample new and familiar gluten-free foods, so we couldn’t pass up this event!
Introducing this year’s GFFA Fest
This year’s GFFA Fest is again presented by Enjoy Life Foods, so you can expect big fun in Enjoy Life Land, sampling many of Enjoy Life’s delicious, gluten-free/allergy-friendly products and meeting some of their smiling and helpful staff members.
Our trip to the Fest this year will be different for a couple of reasons. The first reason being that I myself have gone GF for health reasons; and the second, and more exciting one, is that I will be doing a presentation on “Your Child’s First Gluten-Free Year” in addition to a cooking demo. I am so grateful and thrilled! Noah and I’ll be making empanadas and sharing with those who come to see us. You won’t want to miss out!
And there’s much more!
–There will be over 60 vendors this year.
–The keynote speaker will be Charles P.B. Vanderpool of Indiana University School of Medicine.
–Two days of valuable presentations and cooking demos with some fabulous luminaries in the gluten-free/allergy/health communities. Taylor Miller and Margaret Clegg are just two of my favorites who will be presenting. Click here for the full list of presenters.

Wanna know why I’m so passionate about this event?
It’s simple. My son, Noah, was diagnosed with celiac disease at the age of 7. The abrupt loss of some of his favorite foods and having to bring his own GF food to parties and events left him feeling robbed and alienated. The GFFA Fest is a place of safe eating–a place where Noah can eat like a child should be able to–with fearlessness and joy. Where else can your gluten-free child (or adult self) do this? With all of the restrictions that someone with celiac endures on a daily basis, I can understand why Noah has been looking forward to this event all year.
If you’re looking for an event where you could sample lots and lots of gluten-free and allergy-friendly goodies, meet some of your favorite vendors, and attend some worthwhile presentations, then you can’t miss it! And please, don’t forget to stop by the blogger booth and say “hello!”
P.S. Stay tuned for my next post on tips for a successful and enjoyable GFFA Fest experience!
