When my son first got diagnosed with celiac disease, I had a difficult time finding substitutes for certain foods and ingredients: one of which was gluten-free breadcrumbs.
One day, my husband saw me chopping up day-old gluten-free bread (and ends) into fine pieces and he said, “Why don’t you just throw that in the blender?” So, in that moment of embarrassment and McGyver-like genius, a time-saving, cost-free solution for breadcrumbs was born! This was perfect, as I could control how fine or coarse I could make my breadcrumbs. I put any extras in a labeled freezer bag and toss them in the freezer for future use. Ta-da!
This is something I do too! My daughter won’t eat the heels so I stick them in a freezer bag to save to make bread crumbs. So easy and saves $$ ! I am enjoying looking around at your site!
Great minds certainly think alike! I usually leave my bread ends and remnants in a baggie in the fridge until I’m ready to use them. That keeps me from forgetting about them!
Thank you for visiting my site! I’m so glad to hear that you’re enjoying it! –Julie
